CERVICAL (NECK) ORTHOSIS
Helps to protect and stabilize the cervical vertebrae and control the animal’s neck and head movements. Decompresses vertebrae, reducing stress on ligaments, tendons, muscles and
joint surfaces.
Recommended in the following cases:
- Subluxation or dislocation of the vertebrae
- Hernias
- Fractures
- Wobbler's syndrome
- Arthritis
- Arthrosis
- Neurological conditions
- Musculoskeletal conditions
- Tumors
- Pre or post-operative
- Etc.
Example of a frequently observed pathology: Atlantoaxial instability
Atlantoaxial instability in dogs is the result of bone and/or ligament conformation anomalies between the first 2 vertebrae (atlas and axis) located at the junction of the head and neck. This instability can lead to subluxation or dislocation, resulting in compression of the spinal cord. As a result, the animal may experience gait disorders and neck pain during movement.
Mainly observed in small breed dogs such as Poodles, Chihuahuas, Pekingese, Yorkshires Terriers, etc.
