3D PRINTING
For a few years now, 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, has been booming in the medical field. Among other things, this technology enables orthoses and prostheses to be designed and manufactured with the utmost precision.
There are three main stages in the process. The first step consists of digitizing (scanning) the part of the animal’s body for which we want to create the apparatus for. This step can easily be performed with the camera of a smart phone. Then, the captured images are analyzed with the help of a software. Finally, the processed data is transferred to a 3D printer that will manufacture an orthosis or a prosthesis with the materials chosen according to the specific needs.
This advanced technology is under development at ORTHO DESIGN and will be available soon.
